Facts about MOT's:
Did you know that you can have your test done within 30
days of the expiry date? If the car passes, your MOT is valid for up to 13
months.
If it fails, you have longer to arrange the repairs!
Brakes
There are many brake items to be
checked at the MOT, e.g. leakage of air from the brake pipes, condition of
brake hoses and system efficiency.
However, we are not allowed to dismantle any components at
the time of the test. It is therefore possible for discs and pads to be
seriously worn, or for other defects to be present which cannot be
seen by the tester.
It is very important to realise, therefore, that the
braking system could pass the MOT test and yet still be in a
dangerous condition.
The solution is to have your brakes fully inspected at
appropriate times depending on the mileage covered by the vehicle.
